Rushing home...well, we are trying to. The wind has been a little fickle today, dropping backing, building and then some cloud effect as well. We have tried to make the most of what we have, and with a lot of HOOB (head out of boat) sailing, trying to decipher the alto from nimbo, from cumulus clouds to see where we are in the systems, and I think we have made some nice progress.

The crew are getting more and more excited, but in a subdued way, as they all know that between us and the finish is a long hard beat. Well, of course either we finish in no wind, or with a beat, and of course at night.

Well, hopefully this time we will be changing at least one of these, by coming in during daylight hours. This of course really works here as the mountain is one hell of a backdrop for a finish! Get the cameras out.

During the night we had a bit of bad luck with a couple of rain squalls coming in and heading us. That means that we were forced off our course to the finish making the final 200nm a tighter beat and we might even have to put a few tacks in at the end. So let's hope for a nice constant south / south east wind off the Cape in order to try to make it back.

Otherwise, we’ve had a pretty uneventful day, which is always good, but not good for blog writing. Hopefully we have another uneventful day as well.

Chat later,
