‘Ello folks!

Well it's been a mixed bag for us the last 48 hours, filled with some good and some stressful bits. But we are still here, still fighting and still smiling. Could be worse, we could have two cabinet members leaving... just saying.

We have again smashed our speed record - it's currently held by Jacqueline 'The Elephant Trainer' Kavanagh at 25.4 knots. I've told the crew they'll get their chance with the low that's developing to the north-west of us.

This reminds me, we need to start prepping ourselves and our boat because in about 24 hours or so 'stuff' is about to go sideways. This involves us making sure we are rested, clean, fed, hydrated and our personal gear is stowed and working, such as our head torches being charged, our safety knives are present and I always ask that everyone carries a long piece of string with them (this has saved me in sooo many situations).

As for the boat, we need to go through it with a fine tooth comb - this includes, but is not limited to... getting someone up the rig to make sure there's nothing that will snap or bang or go 'aaaaaaahhhh' in the middle of the night. Checking all the screws and rivets on the boom, vang and rigging. Having a once over on the steering gear, getting the water tanks filled to the brim and getting meals prepped and ready. And why the heck not? Let’s get the kettle on as well. So it's gonna be a busy day tomorrow. Right, I'm utterly camugened - and I'm off to chill my beans (‘ello Isla and Elle).
