Yesterday was a fabulous days sailing, sun, wind and flat seas, our maximum was 16 knots as we surfed down a wave.

In the last 24 hours we have covered 220 nautical miles which has been really encouraging after the pedestrian pace we have seen over the past few days and it leaves 4781 miles to go which sounds like plenty of opportunity for us to haul some ground back.

Conversation on deck has covered pretty much every subject that you would expect of a few old guys in a pub on a winter’s night; Trump, Boris, EU, price of eggs etc.

We didn't see any penguins today but we did have a pod of dolphins follow us for some time.

I shall leave you with an extract from Roadways by J. Masefield, illustrating the attraction of the sea...

One road led to London,
One road led to Wales,
Our road led us seawards
To the white, dipping sails.

One road led to the river,
And it went singing slow;
Our road led to shipping,
Where the bronzed sailors go.

Led us, lured us, called me
To salt green tossing sea;
A road without earth's road-dust
Is the right road for me.

A wet road heaving, shining,
And wild with seagulls' cries,
A mad salt sea-wind blowing
The salt spray in my eyes.
