Hola from Punta!

Time to go east, it’s getting cold enough already. The gloves, hats, mid layers, base layers and hot water bottles are showing up. I've even got out my Norwegian wool hand knitted pants gifted to me by Dorthe direct from Norway. We had a great 24 hours sailing with flat and constant seas. This 'champagne sailing' has allowed us to do some housekeeping, a full boat clean, fixing pending jobs and recover the energy levels and motivation lost in the previous week.

The Punta del Este crew are wishing with the crew from other boats that have some technical or crew issues to return to normal racing. This is ocean racing and it’s tough for everybody. Although we are racing against the rest of the fleet we are also here to support each other. We look after Punta del Este and Punta del Este looks after us, safety onboard is the top priority! If we don't break the boat or ourselves we can keep going, it’s as simple as that.

Challenging weather ahead, thinking outside the box to make the best possible tactical choices. Anyway, whatever the weather we'll continue enjoying the adventure :)

Until next time.

Max boat speed: 15 knots

Sea life spotted: Lots of seagulls hanging in big groups in the middle of nowhere.

Sailing manoeuvres to mention (sail changes, tacks and gybes): We have put the foot down, at full throttle now. Head sail changes non stop.

Meal of the day: Andrew’s bread is to die for.

Crew of the day: George is called the helming high priest. We call him to helm when conditions are helpless for all of us.

Tip of the day: When you have perfect sailing conditions (champagne sailing) don't forget to celebrate with a special drink. We did it today with a glass of cola.
