Hola from Punta del Este!

If you are not having fun sailing, you are not doing it right! I think this is a quote from our dearest Sir Robin Knox-Johnston or if not I have heard it from him. He is right, what is the point of being here with the long face feeling miserable when you could be doing it right by enjoying lots of wonderful moments onboard. On Punta del Este we follow that motto of enjoying every moment and every little thing, appreciating how lucky we are to be doing what we are doing, living one of the best adventures of our life. During our happy hour I remind everyone of this and otherwise they normally see the excitement on me because I cannot help it!

Yesterday I came on deck to find out a whole female crew and I told them they looked like the crew of Maiden (Maiden was a yacht that participated in the 1989 Whitbread Round the World Race with female crew only and they came 2nd against all odds). In this race we have Wendy Tucker, skipper of Zhuhai and previous winner of the Clipper Race who also skippered Maiden in her new voyage around the world. This leg we are more or less 50-50 female-male ratio and I have to say it works, Venus and Mars aligned!

In the last 24h sailing we have suffered the effects of another windhole sending us a few positions back, really frustrating but this is the nature of ocean racing, we raced 4000 nautical miles to arrive to the finish line within a few miles of each other.

It’s going to be a really interesting 24h in the Clipper Race viewer, stay glued to it!

Clipper Race Fact: The Clipper Race was established in 1996 by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first person to sail solo nonstop around the world in 1968-69. His aim was to allow anyone, regardless of previous sailing experience, the chance to embrace the thrill of ocean racing.
