Hola from Punta del Este!

The Luzon Strait, north of the Philippines, brought strong winds and currents and caught us by surprise, making us lose a few positions and bring some reality to some crew that never experienced strong winds before.

It was a welcome cooler night with lots of waves spray, foulies were dug out from the bottom of our bags as it is the first time we have used them since Leg 4.

We are in a close fight with Qingdao, Unicef and Ha Long Bay, Viet Nam. It's challenging to gain any distance and we will have to wait until weather conditions become more variable to play different tactics.

Cooking in the galley upwind on a forty degree angle is always a challenge but Clara and Susan are proving to be pro's at this, delivering a great meal on time to the rest of the crew. Remember we cook with limited ingredients, with limited kitchen utensils and in limited space for a lot of people.

Race continues, the Dell Latitude Rugged Ocean Sprint is coming soon! Stay close to the Clipper Race Viewer.
