It’s been a tough 24 hours. We left the race start which was phenomenal. The crew perfectly correlated to achieve the plan. The idea was to time race start perfectly to hoist the Spinnaker and pull into the lead.

Success! Our kite was the first to fly and the guys did amazingly. We led all the way to the South East where the wind died. It was painful to watch as five yachts came through inside us with pressure as we wallowed in self pity and lifeless air.

Eventually the wind that had enabled them came to us too and sixth place was ours for a time. The Qingdao spirit doesn't like sixth place and we'll do our best. As I reflected on the hardship of seeing our race lead stolen I pondered on a few thoughts. Firstly: "believe in yourself and the rest will follow". They'll have to as we'll be in the lead. I think of what John Foster would say: “Never give up, you get out what you put in so dig deep”. Tim Grigsby: "work smart". I like to think a combination of all of those things are true... and with those inspiring thoughts I leave you..

Ps We are back in the lead.
