What an interesting start to this race we have had. I think it's the first race for an awfully long time that has seen us going completely the wrong way. I also think the direct route home back to the UK right now is something like 100 degrees from our current heading. Oh well the Azores are very nice this time of year.

We started off with some interesting goals, like covering our competition and so on, and then it all turned into something rather different. So I apologise profusely. I may well have messed this one up. Still... It's a good day right now because it's Race Start and one of our best helms is Mother... Well that doesn't sound great but I haven't told you the full story... We had this awesome soup for lunch and this evening, as the sun falls in the sky, I've just been eating shepherd's pie. It's all a little tongue in cheek but seriously I'm thinking I hope this all works out and we don't get left behind by the bulk of the fleet. Watching velocity made good (VMG) to waypoint at 0.3 is rather disconcerting. Had a great conversation with one of the tacticians on WTC Logistics that the quickest route between two points is a straight line. The shortest line.

With all these extra miles we are doing it does lead us with a very good question. How will we make the boat go faster?
