We finally got to the current after our initial plan when we were winning was blocked by a wind hole for a day or so whilst we sat in Southerly current.

Painful days, but I'm sure it’s character building and gives the others a turn at the front.

At times like these, apart from the windhole, we have to ask ourselves; are we putting enough in? I want to have an intricate look into what we can do better to improve our performance over the next few days. For now however, we'll keep chipping at the miles and see if we can get ahead of any boats by the end. A point is a point.

We have a few we might be able to get. Yesterday, we had Yadi and Niklas our Qingdao Ambassadors as mothers and may I say the best food we have had. Wow, the fried rice was awesome for lunch and for dinner..chicken, veg and mash...with the guys making a gorgeous gravy too. Yummy.

Julie Hood has said she now has 7-8k of funds raised for Unicef! I don't know who paid us to race but on the leaderboard we weren't looking to good on so hopefully that will even it up a little bit. A long way to go to match Unicef or, I believe, Dare to Lead in second place of the fundraising leaderboard.

It's a tough pill to swallow when you're very competitive, not being at the front of the fleet, but you know, what we are still trying to do is make as many miles up on them and take as many places as we can in the process. Who knows? A mysterious additional windhole for the finish? Not likely, but stranger things have happened at sea.

Big shout out to my family and to Leigh-on-Sea sailing club. Looking forward to doing some dinghy sailing when I get home.

Until tomorrow, wish us luck getting to this good wind so we can start catching up. Then they'll have to watch out!!!!

Looking forward to a new race and a fresh start, you can't win them all as they say, but I would have liked to have pieced a couple more together first.
