Hello,

Well tonight has been significantly more successful than last night, no major sail damage for Visit Sanya, China! Another plus is that our Code 3 Spinnaker is all patched and ready to be sewn. A great team led by Barry and Su had patched her up in record time, we even had Guan our On Board Reporter (OBR) helping out. One team, one dream and all that.

So after last night’s failures, we swiftly got the Code 2 Spinnaker up again this morning and pushed on towards the Scoring Gate. There were a couple of points today when the wind had increased and I thought about dropping the Code 2 in order not to damage it, but once again, my crew rose to the challenge and kept a good steady helm in some rolling seas without flogging the kite which made me and Jorge happy men.

What I will say is that I am so impressed with the quality of the helming coming out of this boat, considering some people have spent very little, if any, time behind the wheel of any yacht, let alone a 70ft beast. They are handling her with grace and poise, keeping her moving on the straight and narrow towards our destination.

Clearly the quality of the crew’s helming is so attractive they are literally having to fight off the flying fish at every turn. A good proportion of the crew have now been assaulted by the winged fish that seem to love hurling themselves onto the deck at night.
