Hello,

And let the Clipper Round the World Bob Along-athon commence!

As forecasted, we have sailed into another fantastically large windhole created by the lee of the Philippines. Still on the plus side it does allow people to have showers a couple of days before we arrive into Subic Bay, so they won’t be smelling too bad… I hope.

Today is in stark contrast to yesterday when we were hammering along in 25+ knots of breeze with the Code 3 up, tearing up over 12 miles every hour and now we are clocking up one or if we are fortunate two miles every hour and not necessarily in the correct direction.

Last night as the sun set the six boats were all in a radius of about 20 miles after being spread out by almost 200 miles over the past couple of weeks. We now share company with WTC Logistics. Hello Rich and Dan, as the most easterly boats, each of us trying different sails and different angles to overcome this north going current as well as build a lead over the westerly boats.

We are now really looking forward to landfall and the promise of a cold beer. In good news we have found out that the yacht club has a 24/7 open bar which I’m sure will please crew fleet wide. Also, in Subic Bay is the opportunity to go diving in many cool places including the wreck of the USS New York that was scuttled in the bay during the second world war.

However, we have no idea how long it will take us to get there, possibly years at this rate…

Until tomorrow,

Seumas
