Yesterday was busy. We had the whole sail wardrobe up at one point or another. The forecast was 20-25 knots all day, so after it was 15 for a bit it dropped away till it was 4 - 6 knots. We went from the heavyweight spinnaker (Prescott) to the medium weight (Yellow) to the lightweight (Max).

‘Max’ eventually hung limp and unimpressive like a polyester dress shirt after a big night. We hauled it down the fore-hatch in a sort of kiwi drop.

We used the time to send our bosun up the mast to recover the starboard spinnaker block that had come apart in 15 knots of wind several nights ago.

Round the world crew member Henry Dale is a useful bosun and likes fixing things. It has been discovered he is not great with heights. After some time fiddling he started shouting "I can see a wave set coming", so we hurried to lower him on the two halyards, plus the third we had used to send up the replacement halyard.

We lowered him safely to deck. All’s well. It’s very cold at night and we have not seen any Penguins, but some people had a Kit Kat.
