Roses are red and our boat is BLUE.

We are slowly progressing south towards Subic Bay. Last night we weaved our way around lots of small fishing boats under Spinnaker. Many of the vessels were unlit until the last minute at which point they would get very excited and start flashing their spotlights. We also managed to avoid nets and lines and are yet to use or machete-axe to cut lines off the rudders in anger. There are some interesting FAD's (Fish Aggregating Device) to attract fish and these seem to be working as we were approached by some friendly gentlemen offering us fresh mahi-mahi this morning.

Slow progress today. The wind is not being very cooperative, but we are grateful for an average day's run yesterday. Thoughts have turned to land but we are also putting this time to good use in order to maximise our shore time. We hope to be ashore by tomorrow sunset. With 150nm to go, a tricky forecast and strong counter current, this may just be achievable. GotoBermuda is making gains on us every sched. Although it would be nice for Unicef (the boat) to have some company on Valentine’s day, we really hope to avoid this.

Just a short one today. Final blog of the race to come tomorrow.

Here we go.
