It is back to headwinds, life on the lean and we are in stealth mode. It's been a busy period on UNICEF as we have navigated wind holes, impromptu tacks, and a lot of wind and fishing vessels galore.
Zhuhai and Our Isles and Oceans have done a smashing job at closing in the miles and it's set to be a tough battle to the finish. Life onboard has got into a nice rhythm, with good food and slick sail changes. Thomas made the best bread we have had on board in a long time yesterday, the perfect amount of airy and crispy.
This morning brought a sharp change in the weather, most of us were now in three layers, with hats and balaclavas donned. The forecast for the route ahead has some transition zones into the final downwind sprint, so plenty of sail changes and tactics to come in what has already proved a challenging race.
Vamos Qingdao.
