Morning it’s Dan here your friendly Alternatively Qualified Person. The last 24 hrs of racing have been awesome, close quarters racing isn't something we usually have on a Clipper Race. Sometimes we are separated by hundreds of miles, by the wilderness of an ocean, but today it’s by two boat lengths. Now for the new joiners on board I don't want them to think this is normal... because it's very easy to maintain concentration when in sight of other vessels, but when you don't see another yacht for weeks at a time this becomes hard.

The new joiners are doing a fantastic job of jumping into an already productive team, picking up below deck duties and learning on deck from the existing crew. This can be seen in the yacht’s performance so far this race! Currently in third place on the northbound leg of our WTC Logistics Tri-Race the crew are sailing the boat particularly well.

Now you may be wondering why Mr Gould (aka Skip) is not writing his usual witty blogs today, this is because he has the Man Flu... now for those among us who understand this harsh unforgiving illness. They would understand why he cannot make it to the keyboard today, instead he can be found relaxing in his bunk.

Anyhow busy back to deck to attempt an overtake of Capt Jeronimo and his deckhand Ryan.
