Slow going today.

Did a few gybes and sail changes to try to keep the boat moving, but it seems that the most success today came in the baking department, where we baked a couple of loaves of bread.

In the evening we gybed across onto port to try and get back in to the breeze, and soon fell in to company with GoToBermuda. Its lights are still visible off our port bow.

As we were preparing to gybe a small land bird tried to touch down on the deck. It looked like a Pipit. It perched briefly on the moving spinnaker sheet, but did not stay long.

Pan Yue, one of our Zhuhai ambassador crew, has been keeping me occupied on deck with a barrage of questions about navigation and the weather. Always enthusiastic, she is eager to learn as much as she can and get involved with everything that is happening on deck, which can be quite amusing to watch as she pairs herself up with some of the bigger crew members to help operate the winch pedestals.

The sun will be rising soon and I hope the wind will rise with it! I have been on deck since 0200, alternating between helping with the helming and trimming and then keeping an eye on the battery charging and the water maker, so feeling a bit tired James Finney has now taken the watch and it seems we are going a bit faster, so I look forward to getting a bit of shut-eye soon.

Cheers

Nick
