The Clipper 60s completed four circumnavigations before retiring at the end of the 2002 edition of the race.

Clipper Training operates two fleets of ocean racing yachts; the classic fleet of Clipper 60s with their pioneering race history and the new race fleet of twelve, purpose built Clipper 70s, the largest fleet of identical ocean racing yachts in the world.

Clipper 60s
The legendary fleet of Clipper 60s, designed and built for the first Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in 1996 completed four circumnavigations before they were retired at the end of the 2002 edition of the race.

Designed by David Pedrick, these tough ocean racers have accommodation of a practical nature with one main cabin lined with individual bunks and storage space for the crew. There is also a communal area in which the crew can relax and eat when not on deck.

The Clipper 60s are perfectly suited to teach the basics of sailing and seamanship and also provide excellent preparation for the bigger and more powerful Clipper 68s which form the current Clipper Race fleet.

Clipper 70s
New for Clipper 13-14, the Clipper 70 will form the third generation of Clipper racing yachts. Designed by Tony Castro, these new boats promise to be exciting and are perfectly suited for this particularly gruelling sailing event.

Differing from their predecessors, the Clipper 68, the Clipper 70s boast new features which include twin helms, twin rudders and a six-foot bowsprit to fly asymmetric spinnakers which also allows the inclusion of a huge Code Zero sail to complement a wardrobe of Yankee headsails, staysail and main.
