Half of the race distance completed and boooom, another record, 321 nautical miles in the last 24 hours, we are still in first place. This time with a bit more distance to our competitors, who are still following us closely. We know the race is only finished once we are over the finish line, so no time to be excited, the team has to stay focused and hard working for the rest of the race. And it seems we are capable of doing so.
Although it's not easy, the spray at this speed and in this sea is massive. It's dry suit weather. Dry suit weather with loads of layers underneath as the the temperatures sank, compared to the last few days. I personally don't know what the temperatures are, it's just not relevant. But the circumstances make the shifts longer, the hungers bigger and the sleeps more demanded than before. But we keep on working, we are all struggling here and there, but the overall goal is present and puts many small individual issues aside. We all have made a commitment: first the boat and the race, then individual needs. And this seems to work.
