Searching for wind... That seems to be an ongoing theme for these races around the coast of the Philippines, each boat in search of that magical wind line that will only appear for them, it's been tough but the search still continues...

This got me thinking about this Clipper Race overall. See for me the choice to do this race was for a very basic reason. I love to sail and was fortunate enough to be exposed to sailing at a young age through a great friend of mine Jason. We spent our teenage and early 20 years racing every weekend in the Spring, Summer, Fall for which I am truly grateful. But as we got older and life got busy with kids, work etc. sailing and especially the time commitment to racing fell by the wayside. So when the opportunity came with the Clipper Race to sail competitively again I jumped at the chance. Maybe it was a search to relive those younger days?

But what I have seen and heard from the other crew and the reasons for joining the Clipper Race are so different than my simple one. Others are sailing in memory of loved ones gone too soon, others simply for the adventure (win or lose), and yet another hoping this journey will show them a different path for their life after the Clipper Race. This is an ongoing theme with everyone I've met on all boats. Everyone with a different reason, each in search of their own magical "wind line". So to all my fellow sailors I wish you luck on your "search" during and after the Clipper Race...

P.S. Jason I have had to use "Steer the boat swivel head" a few times this race lol. Hi and lots of love to my family and friends, on the home stretch now!
