We’re entering the final few days of the race. We’ve passed the Fremantle latitude we started at and have around 10 degrees of latitude left until the finish in Airlie Beach. One of the big differences on the east coast compared to the west, is it tends to be a lot more humid here. Perth and Sydney are roughly the same latitude and have similar template ranges. Although you still sweat on both coasts, it’s harder for it to evaporate on the east side so you can end up feeling more clammy and chafing can be a problem without a good anti-chafe cream.

We’re still making good mileage towards the finish, so a Friday finish is still looking plausible. I’m stopping saying Thursday but it’s also definitely possible. Wednesday is extremely unlikely and Tuesday would require divine intervention.

Talk here has begun as to what people’s preference for a first meal back on dry land will be. A large beer followed by steak and chips plus a good local white wine seems a popular choice.
