Race Day 5 – Lucas
I am writing seated in the “Galley”, whereas my mates are sailing the boat under code 2 (Spinnaker), which means the boat is faster, quiet and more stable at the same time. Exactly the opposite happens now in my head an in my heart in this moment. I'm just thinking and feeling, feeling and thinking, trying to write and express my self in English, mostly my feeling actually, because the last month I'm sure has been the most significant, emotional experiences in my life. I'm here accomplishing one of my life's dreams and the same time my lovely wife Diana is in Chile looking after my just born baby Fernan.
When I say “just” is because he has born exactly 8 days ago when I was in our stop over in Derry – LondonDerry. I had to answer hundred times the question “what are your doing here”. If my rational brain responses, absolutely nothing, but if my emotional side could talks would say “it's all about dreams and intrinsic motivation, its about who I am”. It wasn't an easy decision to be here, and being sincere I do it because Diana is the most amazing and brave woman in the world. We are together from the beginning with only one purpose, and we've declared that any single day of our life “just to fulfil your dreams, my love”. I'm here because her, I'm here because I want to tell to Fernan and my others two boys Matias (26) and Lucas (13) “Nothing is impossible, try to push your boundaries, wherever your dreams are”. I looking forward to see his face, his blue eyes (obviously because that is the colour of her eyes =) ) and give them the most endless tight hug ever.
Many of my colleagues are sailing and finish the race of their lifes...I'm just starting what I'm sure Is the race of my life...”to have finally a Family”, that is the race of my entire life.
Thank you every crew member, for all your support during this leg, every warm question about the due day, the baby's health, every single word at the exactly moment, and for adopt me from Greening's as part of the team. I consider you as my second family from now. Genuinely, thank you all. I don't have words to say how thankful I am. You will be part of my life for ever.
Specially all my gratitude for Allison (Fernan's Scottish Granny) for your unconditional support and very deeply conversations about life's meanings.
And over all, thank you my loved Diana, because you make my dreams come true, indeed you are my dream, and please tell to Fernan his father is coming down home with only one thing in mind, to fulfil his dreams whatever they may be.
