Greetings from the South China Sea, and all aboard the ‘Big Yellow Boat’. We find ourselves maintaining first place amongst the fleet, and fighting hard to remain there, after some fast racing that hopefully saw us win the first Ocean Sprint..?!

Normally on our boat, the high side is the happy side, with only one exception… light winds! Yep, you guessed it, we’ve stumbled upon our first wind hole and all that comes with it. Keeping weight on the low side helps us eek out every last inch of speed that can be gained from the seemingly non-existent wind.

Resembling a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean, minus the thick fog, we gently bob up and down, waiting for something to happen. The sun beating down on the shadeless deck, leaving nowhere to hide, the sea like a glistening silk blanket, broken only by the occasional bird swooping in for the kill on an unsuspecting fish. The only saving grace in all this, is that the rest of the fleet is in distant view behind us, experiencing the same ill fainted wind hole.

On the plus side, calm seas have given way to some excellent mothering, and the arrival on deck of some very tasty fruit crumble, served in only our best dinnerware….

That's all for now folks...here's to making the race viewer a little more interesting for you in the next 24 hours!

Love to all my family
