It has been an interesting five days on board and getting used to living at an angle was challenging at first, but then became ALMOST like second nature (it is still difficult at times). We have had high winds and swells to wind holes, sunny days to rain, and beautiful sunrises and sunsets to dark starry nights. We even had dolphins surfing the waves from the bow and whales playing in the water at a distance. Sometimes I wake up for watch wondering if it was all a wonderful dream...until I have to get dressed :).

Today was filled with lots of excitement on board as we crossed the Scoring Gate in first place. As we neared the gate, Brendan on the helm started counting down from 10 seconds. We cheered as we crossed and all you could see was smiles all around. The excitement filled the air for hours afterwards and the cheer of the crew can still be felt. I hope this excitement will carry us through the next days until we reach Newcastle!

I look forward to what lies ahead in this race even though it is sometimes so unpredictable. Maybe it is the unpredictability and uncertainty that mother nature brings that draw so many to the ocean. For me it has always been the great love, peace and serenity I feel being near, on or in the ocean.

All my love to the ones I left behind to have the ADVENTURE OF MY LIFE
