I started experiencing seasickness symptoms yesterday afternoon, but compared to the race from Zhuhai to Qingdao, I feel much better now. Maybe it’s because I’m mentally prepared for the worst of seasickness, or maybe my body is starting to adapt.

Today is the third day of the race. Will and I are ‘mothers’ today and are responsible for three meals a day on the boat. At 4:30 in the morning, I was still "flying a kite" in the cockpit, and everyone on the front deck was making preparations for changing the sail in an orderly manner. We are currently still heading southeast, getting closer to southern Japan. After someone took over the helm, I went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Breakfast was actually quite simple: cereal, milk, freshly baked bread and waffles, paired with honey, jam, peanut butter, etc. Everyone enjoyed it. When I handed the bread to Chris today, he happily told me that the color scheme of this bread was so artistic and that you can be responsible for my bread in the future. I was still feeling uncomfortable due to seasickness, but my heart suddenly blossomed. For the first time, I felt that cooking for others could be a kind of enjoyment.

After finishing breakfast, we needed to prepare the ingredients for Fritter lunch: canned Tuna, canned corn kernels, milk, flour, and quick mashed potatoes. Although Will is young, he cooks in an orderly manner. We worked on the recipe together and could start frying it soon. Sometimes the portion of this meal may be very small, and everyone will wait for the second round of snacks to fill their stomachs. After all, sometimes everyone has to do a lot of physical activities, and it is impossible to do it if you don’t have the strength. I stuck my head out of the cabin to find that the sky was very blue and the sea was very calm. Everyone lay leisurely on the deck to bask in the sun. When there was no wind, everyone could only feel anxious. I breathed in the salty air, and the scene in front of me could stay in my memory for a long, long time...

After resting in the afternoon, Will prepared the ingredients for beef curry for dinner: beef, carrots, bell peppers, sweet potatoes, and lentils. Everyone had a great time tonight. On the one hand, there was not much meat eaten on the boat, and on the other hand, the dinner was really good. Seeing everyone go to work contentedly makes me very happy.

When Mother watch finally came to an end, Will and I high-fived each other and I said he was lucky today, we all looked at each other and smiled. Will went to rest. He must be very tired from being a chef today. I was lying on the couch next to the kitchen writing in my journal, thinking about everything that happened today. The red light in the kitchen, the sound of the sea water constantly lapping against the hull, the 30-degree tilt of the hull, and the sound of grinders turning and hurried footsteps on the deck all gave people a sense of tension. Some people asked me why I came to "suffer", some people said that this competition sounded too cool. I thought I would get a different answer the moment I reached land in Seattle, but now I feel very lucky to experience everything of these.

Good night, Qingdao, my Dragon Boat.
