As anyone who has read the previous blog from Tim has learned what an eventful night we had last night! We had over 20 knot wind and flying fish attack! This morning when I woke up and got ready for the morning shift, I was surprised by the sound of peaceful waves. By the time I got on the deck, we had changed our sail from Yankee to Spinnaker due to the wind speed having slowed down. And right now, while I am writing this blog which is 2 hours later, the wind speed has dropped to 2 knots which is almost to nothing and as a result we lost the steering and are drifting. Everyone on the watch is bored and trying to find things to do in order to kill the 6 hours shift.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I personally found that sitting around and got nothing to do is the most challenging part of this trip so far. As a currency broker, I was very used to constantly having something happening and being alert. When I signed up for this race, I made the conscious decision of giving myself a break mentally, so I did not set up any satellite internet account, no books except sailing related, nor podcasts. The only connection I have with me from the modern world is the music downloaded. It is tough to deal with boredom. However like someone said (I do not know who said it unfortunately due to the lack of access of Google) that creativity comes out of boredom, you may find a shining new version of me with lots of bubbling creative ideas when you next time see me, lol.
