I have been enjoying the sea roll by for a few weeks now and for some reason I think moderate is my favorite sea state, which is a wave height of 1.25 to 2.5m. This usually means the Code 2 Spinnaker which usually means some pace, miles under the belt to our destination. That has been very open this leg with the uncertainty related to travel in the area. Not sure I could have sailed off to find a new land as fellow Northerner, Captain Cook did. So with the uncertainty some crew speculate and some have concerns, the concerns Mo and Phil have for family and friends out ways my own thoughts of my partner making her first trip to Asia to cheer the crew of the good ship Kevin home.

When the waves are less all conversation centers around the amazing ability Kevin has for wallowing in wind-holes. Once the waves pick up to rough the adrenaline kicks in, focus on every move above and below decks required. So moderate is just nice, we 30min rotate the trim and ease of the spinnaker sheet and helm when we can so time passes fast. This is 24hrs so everyone does their bit. But moderate just seems to create conversation and finding out more about the other crew.

During the day I had spotted land ho, to starboard and investigation showed us Pig Island, wistfully I wondered if Miss Piggy was marooned as Benjamina Gunn from the Muppet Treasure Island or more practically about a bacon butty van.

At about 3am the temperature was just becoming comfortable, I burn very easily, well it is blazing sunshine and mid 40s degrees during the day so factor blanket or long sleeves and trousers. The night is lovely, I was in my light shorts and enjoying the air without sweat running down my back. Earlier in the day Nassor had asked how much of our summer was like this in Newcastle which got a laugh from all the Brits. He looked over at me, shivered and headed for his coat. I just had to smile. Afterall, he is from Zanzibar.
