Excellent opportunity available to play an instrumental role in ensuring the world’s largest matched fleet of ocean racing yachts is ready to race the world’s oceans in the Clipper 2025-26 Race.
The Clipper Race is the only event of its type to take everyday people and train them to race around the world through some of the planets most inhospitable stretches of ocean. The eleven-strong fleet of Clipper 70s will return to Gosport, UK, in late July 2024 ready for a complete refit ahead of the 2025-26 edition.
Designed by renowned naval architect Tony Castro, the Clipper 70s are robust, over-specced racing machines capable of withstanding everything Mother Nature throws at them.
Timeline
The
refit contract is currently planned to run from mid-August 2024 through to end
of May 2025. These dates may vary slightly dependant on yard availability.
Duties
Refit staff will be working
closely with our team of experienced race technicians to tackle every aspect of
the boats. Tasks will be wide ranging, including servicing engines, generators,
deck gear, standing and running rigging, steering gear, rudders, internal and
external cosmetic works, re-stocking the fleet and much more.
Experience
Previous
experience in the marine sector is preferred but not compulsory. Primarily,
Clipper Ventures are after people who are keen to work on a large project with
a wide range of tasks to be undertaken. A good understanding of safety culture
in the workplace is essential. Over the refit period staff will have the
opportunity to learn the fundamental workings of the fleet and leave with some
valuable skills that will apply across the wider marine sector.
Hours of Work
0830 to 1700 Monday to Friday, with some variation if early starts/late finishes are necessary to accommodate lift/launch times or other operational requirements.
Holiday Entitlement
Holiday Entitlement – 25 days per annum pro rata.
Salary
This will be split across 2 pay brackets
dependant on previous experience (£22,000 and £25,000 respectively pro rata).
