Prep-week ahead of Race Start begins

With just 20 days to go until the start of the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race from St Katharine Docks, London, today sees the start of race prep-week for the skippers and crew taking part.

Training sessions including sail repair, medical, victualing and media will be led by various experts including former crew members and some of the race's official suppliers.

Hyde Sails will hold a sail repair master class while Global Medical Emergency Support Partner, Praxes, will travel over from Canada to train skippers and crew on essential skills for medical care while at sea.

The twelve-strong fleet will leave their Gosport base on the south coast of the UK this Sunday, 18 August, to sail to London. The fleet journey includes a finally Level 3 training course, with the fleet then scheduled to arrive at their St Katharine Docks home on Friday 23 August.

Race Village, St Katharine Docks, opens to the public on Saturday August 24. Open boat tours of the Clipper 70s will be available until 30 August, from 11am until 6pm, along with a full schedule of race related activities, food stalls and entertainment.
