Win a special Race Start experience in aid of Unicef

13 August 2015

We’re teaming up with official race charity Unicef to provide a unique on the water opportunity to get you closer to the action for the Clipper 2015-16 Race Start.

We have four pairs of tickets to get on board one of our Clipper 68 training yachts and follow the race fleet as it departs London, and continue to Southend where you will berth overnight alongside the race fleet. Wake up and enjoy your front line view as the tenth edition race officially gets underway and admire the Clipper 70s in full battle mode as they start their journey around the world. The fun doesn’t stop there as you can then taste what life is like as an ocean racer as you sail the Clipper 68 back to Clipper Race HQ in Gosport.

Commenting on this once-in-a-lifetime experience, Race Chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston says: “There is no better way to watch the opening of our tenth edition race and feel like part of the fleet as it sets out on its odyssey down the River Thames.

“The atmosphere and emotion on the water is palpable and seeing the team’s training come into action as they raise their sails is a spectacular sight, sure to unlock the adventurer in you.”

To be in with a chance of winning one of the four pairs of tickets, all you have to do is bid. All the money raised will go to Unicef.

The trip includes:

-Two places on board a Clipper 68 yacht complete with a professional Skipper and crew
-Berthing as detailed on the itinerary
-Access to foul weather gear and all safety equipment
-Basic on board catering and soft drinks
-Full compliance to Marine Coastguard Agency Code of Practice
-Option to hop-off at Southend after Race Start on Monday 31 August instead of sailing back to Gosport.

Bidding starts today and we will release two places a day up to and including Sunday 16 August. Bidding will start daily from 10am and conclude at 7pm each day. The top bid at close of auction wins and the winner will be notified at 9:30am the following day, before the next two places are released.

The total cost of each of the four winning bids will go to Unicef. To view the full itinerary and start bidding, click here.
