The GREAT Britain campaign is the UK Government’s most ambitious international marketing campaign ever and showcases the very best of what the UK has to offer in order to encourage the world to visit, study in and do business with the UK.

The campaign used the Clipper Race as an activation platform for a range of its projects across innovation, technology, adventure, export and business.

During the Rio de Janeiro stopover Clipper Ventures CEO, William Ward, featured in one of twelve separate films, produced in partnership with Ridley Scott Associates, showcasing real, live export opportunities which are available to UK businesses overseas. It was part of an 'Exporting is GREAT' initiative aimed at inspiring and supporting 100,000 additional UK businesses to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020.

Innovation showcased at defence and aerospace summit

In the lead up to the fleet’s arrival in Seattle, the Clipper Race facilitated a live video link from the deck of the GREAT Britain yacht racing across the Pacific to an aerospace and defence industry event supporting the technology and innovation theme.

The event brought together UK Trade & Investment, Invest Northern Ireland, British and Northern Irish engineering companies and US aerospace manufacturers. The live video interview with the Skipper had a huge impact on the audience including aerospace executives from Boeing, Thales and other US and UK companies, giving the event exactly the unique, memorable content and impression it wanted.

‘Be Yourself’ panel discusses women in business

The Clipper Race teamed up with the British Embassy to host a special panel discussion in Qingdao about gender equality, in support of the UK's month long International Women's Day campaign in China, ‘Be Y♀urself’, which British Ambassador Barbara Woodward launched in Beijing.

The aim is to empower women to reach their full potential, challenge the stereotypes that persist about gender roles, as well as raise awareness of the benefits of gender equality in society and female participation in the workforce.
