The long road South...

We meander southward, "we" being most of the fleet, in and out of AIS range we are never far from one another, gybing here and there, sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind but never far away.

The day was long and listless as we searched for breeze converging on the African coastline, a narrow band of light winds between two relative wind holes, next stop the Canary Islands, not literally more of a drive through experience.

Towards the evening we found a little more breeze, Dario Schwendener was hoisted to the masthead to clip the second halyard to the code sail, we now alternate the loaded halyard every hour on the hour as we anticipate the code sail will fly for many days.

How different Race 2 compared to Race 1, long days and nights gliding south, trimming and helming, upwind sailing will have to wait until nearer the South Atlantic.

With the galley angle of heel more conducive the bake off on board has risen to new levels, no one is complaining, thank you Trisha Dale and John Sears.

We had a surprise visit in Portimão from our Social Media Secretary Marie O'Riley, great work on our Team Facebook pages with the supporter numbers rising over 1000, great to know we have such support behind us!
