We’re over the date line! Fortunately, that means I can get all of the ‘happy yesterday’ jokes out of the way. Although seeing as we crossed yesterday, I made those jokes then. Or was it two days ago, or today? I can’t remember.

In other news, aside from crossing the date line, there’s been a terrible attack on Ha Long Bay. Sat in the nav station earlier I smelled the delicious waft of cumin and other spices coming through the accommodation. This delightful aroma was lovely until I had a small splutter, then a little cough, then a series of uncontrollable coughs until I was running towards the galley to find that Jaci, in her quest to make pumpkin soup, had inadvertently created aromatic tear gas. Hurriedly, I tried to close the door as quiet sleeping bodies turned to confused, coughing ones. It seems I’d got there just in time as the friendly fire made its way down the other accommodation until I shut that too.

Luckily, Jaci and her accomplice Paddy survived, and the soup actually turned out to be delicious and was served with bacon bits, grated cheese and cream. Most people would mix all of these things in to create a full flavour experience but Paddy, clearly not being of sound mind, decided to keep them separate and pick at the individual elements of the soup. What a creature (he’s sat next to me while I’m writing this and reading it aloud).

Likely, I’ll be back with more boat news soon. Hopefully less dangerous and more exciting than killer soup.

You’ll just have to wait until then.

Hooroo cobbers,
