Just a quick one from me today.

Carrying on from the last blog, the endless beating seemed to never end until yesterday afternoon when we finally hoisted the Code 2. We sailed throughout the night while the wind slowly veered more behind us to finally give us the downwind we had hoped for. This morning the wind slowly increased allowing some of our new joiners to have nice helming conditions for the first time while flying a kite during the race. However, this afternoon the wind and sea state built, making the conditions more difficult, so it was time to get the kite down. As we were doing the prep for the drop the halyard snapped and the kite was in the water (again). Massive kudos goes to the crew for their rapid reaction and seamless retrieval. Now we are happily sailing under white sails, still making good progress in the right direction.

Yesterday was another good day in wildlife bingo as we saw a lot of whale spouts in the distance. Eventually a few humpback whales popped up closer to the boat, splashing their tails out of the water. Secondly there where hundreds of Portuguese man of war jellyfish bobbing around looking like blue bubbles on the surface of the sea.
