Hello,

Today is yet another groundhog day, but the more interesting thing I did find out today is the origins of the phrase. I knew it was a film (never seen it though) about someone repeating a day. What I did not know is that it is actually in relation to, now I hope I spell this correctly, Punxsutawney Phil – The Groundhog from Punxsutawney New Hampshire in the USA. The story goes something along the lines of that on the 2nd/3rd of March (my source is unsure which) Phil is woken up from his winter slumber and heads out into the light. If Phil sees his shadow is scared by it and goes back to his bed then winter shall continue for another 6 weeks, if not then winter is over and everyone rejoices. I’m told this is now of huge national significance and is covered on national news. Seems a wee bit odd to me but who am I to comment?

In sailing news the wind is getting light, as forecast, before we get the build and the backing just prior to us heading into the ocean sprint, hopefully we can harness this building wind and propel us across the sprint and grab some extra points.

Today we had Ollie in charge of the music and I must say he really hit the nail on the head with greats like Foo Fighters, Green Day, Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys and Oasis, it really got us hyped for the sailing. Sadly, the wind had been dying so it was a little out of place but enjoyed all the same.

Until tomorrow,

Seumas
