As predicted, the wind has calmed, and we battled with the messy sea state left by the low-pressure system. We’ve been bouncing around trying to keep the spinnaker up.
Now we are trying to position ourselves in a good place to catch the next low that develops, while avoiding the wind hole at the centre of the high pressure that has followed the last. The fleet has split and only time will tell who has taken the best route. While we follow our plan and wait to see if it pays off, it’s back to the upwind slog with the boat on its side.
The sea has settled so at least we are not banging and crashing just yet. I’m sure that will change soon. The crew are continuing to improve as we changed our head sails up and down to fit the conditions. They took advantage of the smoother sea to do some minor maintenance. Fixing the things the rough weather had shaken loose.
