Thank you, Qingdao, for a whirlwind of a stopover with events on every single day from the arrival to departure ceremonies, we had a spectacular display of culture and heritage in China’s Sailing City. Huge thank you to our volunteers, especially Victor for helping us navigate the city. Now we turn the bow toward the mighty Pacific and get Race 10 underway.

The weather always presents us with differing challenges on these Race Starts, this time it was light winds and fog. Thanks to Ineke for running this Race Start making sure we got underway safely. We are currently drifting south under Spinnaker with everything around us being white. We know from the AIS and radar that the rest of the fleet is near, but by the eye, we could be all on our own out here, and here could be anywhere.

The last time we had weather like this, was off the coast of Uruguay when the fog was accompanied by whale song. This time it's the occasional drone of an engine from the fishing fleets and the shout of fishing pot of the starboard/port bow.
