Another “downwind leg” underway with the boat definitely on its side, going upwind. It's been a bit of a shock to the system for the new joiners dreaming of flat seas and lovely Champagne sailing in the sun. It’s also not yet hot, although with each passing mile it is slowly getting warmer. Thankfully this is just a welcome to the boats in their most uncomfortable set up, giving a chance to experience life at 45 degrees, allowing us to appreciate the flat boats even more. Some of the crew are a bit green around the gills, but hopefully by the next blog they will have adapted to life on the water. By then, according to the forecast we may have spinnakers flying and be enjoying some of the fabled downwind sailing before the great drift begins.
