The fleet is currently transitioning between two Satellite regions and therefore some teams are unable to connect their fleet broadband. Regular communication is maintained with the Clipper Race Office and blogs will be added as soon as they reach the next satellite coverage area.
Now just under four hundred miles to go and maybe the last extensive wind hole to negotiate before celebrating our return to Europe after eleven months circling the globe. Our constant companion for the last week has been Visit Seattle and we can see her on the horizon just six miles ahead (Good morning Nikki and crew).
This last four hundred miles is set to be painful as the wind dies back in tidal waters we may end up drifting away from our destination especially if it is too deep to anchor.
To add another factor into the equation, we have lost our email capability due to satellite coverage gaps so at the moment we are unaware of the locations of the rest of the fleet. This also means that we have been unable to collect our detailed weather forecasts and are just going the most direct route to the finish line.
Morale on board is good with the Unicef team now looking forward to our landfall in a couple of days, bring it on!
Cheers Bob.
