Good morning,

We had the fantastic news this morning from Vasi that our Code 3 is repaired and ready for action so we’re back to a full selection of sails again. A massive thank you is due to Vasi who spent 10 days repairing the Code 3.

So, we’re officially out of part 3 of Race 10. We named it ‘Survival’ and we have indeed survived it and come out with a full display of sails (better than we went in with). Our focus for part 4 is the Ocean Sprint. We discussed at today’s midday meeting how we might slightly alter a few things onboard as well as our tactics through the sprint. We really hope to push hard and do our very best in the upcoming sprint.

In other excitement onboard, we had a very brief encounter with PSP Logistics last night. As we were crossing just in front of them on an opposite gybe, the weather gods decided to send us quite a big gust of wind with a whipped-up sea state. In that one moment in the whole of the North Pacific, just when we were close to PSP Logistics, that gust of wind caused us to round up and broke the chain link in our steering. Izzy reacted very quickly and got to the other helm to get the boat under full control again. It’s always nice to see another boat out here, especially some friendly faces, even if the encounter caused a small increase in stress for a few minutes. After a few delightful hours in the laz the chain link was replaced, and we were back on our merry way.

I’m very pleased to report that spirits remain very high on board and everyone is still having a good laugh. Meals are getting more and more inventive as we’re starting to run out of certain ingredients, we’ve only got two carrots left in the fresh veg storage!

We’re currently a few miles away from being under 1,000nm which is another big milestone for this race. It feels like 1,000nm will be a walk in the park after 25 days at sea but we know from the forecast that we might encounter some tricky weather and tactical decisions, so we best make those last two carrots last.
