After our recent storm force winds, today has been spent sorting out bits and pieces that needed to be rectified after 60 or 70 knots of breeze blows through the rigging for 18 hours or so. Mother Nature seems perfectly capable of tying multiple rolling hitches and would easily pass a Clipper Race crew training assessment. We are now wallowing along in light airs and a lumpy sea, which is frustrating.

In 24 hours the breeze will start to build again as our second low pressure system blows through. We'll be under its influence for a couple of days and we expect to see similar wind strengths (hopefully a little less and from the right direction for us to make some decent progress). There is a great big fat high on its heels which, I fear, will squat on us off Cape Town. The pessimist in me again.

The boat is a little drier now and people are getting sleep, although it is certainly cold - I'd forgotten how cold it gets down here, especially at night. If you are joining us on Leg 3, pack for cold cold weather! If you are in any doubt about bringing a warm waterproof sleeping bag I can assure you - get one!

Otherwise, all is good here on WTC Logistics, except our speed - which is anything but this last 24 hrs. Let's hope we can rectify that soon.

All the best from

Mark, Dan and the rest of WTC Logistics Leg 2 Race Crew
