Since we left Qingdao, we’ve been at sea for 20 days and sailed over 3,800 nm (over 7,000 km). We’ve sailed the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea, with their endless fishing boats and nets, sailed with the Kuroshio current, went from eastern longitudinal coordinates to western coordinates when crossing the International Date Line and sailed over both the Emperor and the Chinook Trough which are over 7000m deep. We’ve encountered countless wind holes and we know with the 1,700 nm to sail before crossing the Finish Line and the low barometric pressure systems to come, we will add more on this list. We are ready for exhilarating surfs on large waves and whatever the North Pacific has for us.

Today we decided to adjust our calendars to follow the International Date Line, and live the 16 April again for more than one reason. The first one is because it’s the birthday of our crew member Richard Kolb who is turning 72, what an inspiration. Also it is my Mother’s birthday. “Happy Birthday Mother, you are the best in the world, I miss you and I love you." Yesterday, 15 April was also a special day for my new godson Bosco who celebrated his birthday and the birthday of my cousin Fox, and Mac’s wife Kathy, Happy Birthday!
