The week-long series of events celebrating the launch of the third generation of Clipper Race yacht begins today.

The Clipper 70 arrived in London yesterday and will be showcased at St Katharine Docks until 20 January. The ocean racer, which will circumnavigate the world during the Clipper 13-14 Race, is open to the public for tours during the times detailed below.

Promising to break speed records, the Clipper 70 fleet comprises twelve sleek ocean racing yachts designed by renowned naval architect Tony Castro. The introduction of the new fleet allows the world’s longest yacht race to continue to grow with more crew expected to take part in the race than ever before.

Made up of amateur sailors the crews will take on some of toughest conditions on the planet, from the Roaring Forties in the Southern Ocean to spending a month at sea during the Pacific Ocean crossing. The Clipper 70 launch allows you to see the environment the crew will be racing in and free public tours of the yacht are available during the following times:

Saturday 12 January 10:00-16:00
Sunday 13 January 10:00-15:00

Also in London, Henri Lloyd, official technical clothing partner, is looking forward to welcoming the Clipper Race crews onto its stand (A112) at the London Boat Show at ExCel.

On the stand, there will be a designated Clipper Race area, which will stock size sets of the Clipper Race Crew Basic Kit and Extras Kit for crews to try on and also discuss their clothing requirements with Henri Lloyd’s technical team.
