British Brands encouraged to climb aboard Clipper Race campaign

Our Partnerships Team is encouraging leading British brands to become GREAT Britain Team Partners for the 2015-16 edition of the Clipper Race. There are many exciting opportunities to support the new GREAT Britain entry following the huge success enjoyed in the previous edition.

In 2013-14 the GREAT Britain entry helped to profile British trade, tourism and sport in major markets on six continents. The crew also secured a strong podium place finishing in second overall.

Our Chief Executive William Ward was recently invited to become a GREAT ambassador by the Prime Minister in recognition of the company’s support for the unique initiative. He said: “We provide a unique global platform to showcase British brand partners around the world.

“The GREAT Britain campaign has been very successful and we will develop these exciting opportunities with UK brand partners even further in the tenth edition of the Clipper Race which sets sail at the end of August this year on an 11-month floating trade mission around the planet.”

Commenting on the benefits of supporting the Clipper Race, Paul Strzelecki, joint chief executive of marine and lifestyle clothing brand Henri Lloyd said: “We have experienced at first-hand what a powerful global promotional platform the Clipper Race creates around the world and it has certainly helped our international expansion into new markets. This is a unique and effective way to partner the GREAT Britain campaign.”

The GREAT Britain entry in the 2013-14 edition generated a very high international profile with media exposure reaching hundreds of millions of people around the world. This is over and above the trade and investment opportunities created, tourism promotion and economic impact generated in UK events.

Overall, the Clipper 2013-14 Race reached a unique global audience base of more than 900 million people creating 3.8 billion opportunities to see news coverage.
