Adding more miles to her recruitment log book, crew recruitment manager Della Parsons is in Newcastle today in the search for the next generation of ocean racers.
Della, alongside former local race alumni will be talking personally about their epic experience, hoping to inspire potential crew members.
On Thursday 11 December Della will be in Liverpool and the tour comes to its finale for the year in Manchester this Saturday 13 December.
Anyone who meets Della during her UK tour will automatically be entered into a draw for a place on board a week’s Level 1 training, worth £1085; providing a taste of the race, and also a saving when progressing onto the full race experience.
Recently Della visited Londoners looking to take on the challenge and also met up with crew who are on their way to becoming elite ocean racers, including Simon Rosbottom, a 48 year-old project manager from London.
“I couldn’t believe that 5 hours can pass so easily and happily talking to complete strangers,” Says Simon, who recently signed up for the full circumnavigation.
“When I first enquired about the race and went to the talk it was really interesting. I then went home, watched every video on YouTube that I could find and signed up.”

The 2015-16 race is now more than 70 per cent full but crew places are still available on most legs, and we are now recruiting for the 2017-18 race too.
The race is open to anyone aged 18 or over at the time it starts, but there is no upper age limit. The oldest crew member so far was 74.
