From Management Consultant to Ocean Racer. At the age of 34, Lindsay Geekie had not put racing in the Roaring Forties on her to-do list. Until the algorithm for adventure found her.

“Instagram has a lot to answer for, but sailing was never on the radar,” says Lindsay, from Singapore, and now living in London.

Diagnosed with MS in her late twenties, Lindsay was determined not to let it take away her thirst for adventure. Left more determined than ever by her diagnosis, Lindsay said:

“In January 2022, I saw an advert for the Clipper Race, billed as the ‘Race of Your Life’ and more importantly – open to anyone. Three years and multiple tests later, insured by the Clipper Race and medically cleared by my doctors – it was time to learn how to sail and take on the Australian Coast-to-Coast leg.

“In the three years it’s taken to get here, it’s become proof that I can do something mentally and physically taxing. Something to prove to myself that I’m more than my newfound disability.”

For Lindsay, taking on the Clipper Race was less about escaping something, and more about proving something. A self-confessed lover of her job, Lindsay enjoys the everyday, the corporate life, she was just looking for a way to temporarily step outside of it.

This is Lindsay's story.
