The Fleet
A Global Ocean Racing Fleet
The Clipper Race fleet is made up of a matched set of ocean-going racing yachts designed to be equal in performance. Each yacht is a robust, one-design 70-foot (or earlier editions 68-foot) racing vessel built to withstand the world’s toughest ocean conditions.
Crewed by a mix of professional skippers and amateur sailors from around the world, the fleet races together around the globe, tackling extreme weather, long ocean crossings, and some of the most remote waters. Representing different Partners, the fleet embodies the spirit of endurance, equality, and international cooperation that defines the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Clipper RX
The newest fleet edition
Developed in-house using 30 years of Clipper Race experience and input from 7,000+ crew, the next-generation 72ft fleet builds on three proven yacht designs. Led by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston with Nigel Irens and Fish Composites, the 12 identical yachts will race across six continents and the world’s most demanding oceans, including the Southern Ocean and North Pacific.

Clipper 70
The third generation of one-design Clipper Race yachts debuted in the Clipper 2013-14 Race, proving to be faster and more dynamic than previous Clipper Race yachts, breaking speed records of 35 knots.
The 70-foot yachts make up the world’s largest matched fleet of ocean racing yachts. Designed by renowned naval architect Tony Castro, they are the shining jewel in the Clipper Race crown, perfectly adapted to this gruelling sailing challenge.
