Sailing Update Washington, DC

UPDATE | 1215 on 24.12.25

At around 1000 UTC Washington, DC successfully transferred Steve to a RIB in Bussleton. The RIB transferred him to an ambulance waiting onshore and onwards to the hospital. Washington, DC is now proceeding back to their engine on position, where the team will resume racing.

Team Washington, DC is being diverted due to crew member Steve Carrick sustaining an injury on board and needing medical attention.

Skipper Ella Hebron has been in constant contact with the Race Management Team and MSOS – our telemed provider, and we have been working to MSOS’ recommendations.

Race Director Dale Smyth has been liaising with the relevant authorities who have recommended Steve be taken towards the mainland. The yacht is heading in the direction of Busselton, WA, Australia where an offshore rendezvous may be possible tomorrow.
