Sailing Update | Yacht Club Punta del Este

UPDATE 0900 UTC 1 April

For Jo to get the medical attention she requires, Team Yacht Club Punta del Este is now proceeding towards Kushiro Port.

One coast guard ship has been dispatched from Kushiro Port, and it is expected that the two vessels will arrive at a rendezvous point 400nm offshore at around 1900 UTC this evening.

The coast guard will collect Jo from CV20 and proceed to Sendai Airbase where she will be transferred to hospital.

Team Yacht Club Punta del Este crew member Jo Worrall has become unwell while racing. Jo’s condition is stable, but it has been advised that she seeks medical attention. Jo’s primary contact has been informed.

Skipper David Sautret has been in contact with the Race Management Team and MSOS – our telemed provider - and we are working to MSOS’ recommendations.

The Race Management Team and the yacht are liaising with the relevant authorities to coordinate a plan of action for Jo and the yacht.
