Adding yet another accolade to Clipper Race winning skipper Eric Holden’s rapidly increasing list of sailing awards, Sail Canada has just announced the Vancouver based sailor as its July Sailor of the Month. In an additional tribute, all of Henri Lloyd’s Canadian crew members were named and share the award, cementing their transformation from amateurs to officially recognised Canadian sailors.

The six Canadians on board Henri Lloyd who share the July sailing award are (pictured L-R) British- Canadian Phil Driver, Michael Jauncey from Toronto, Morgan Watson from Calgary Alberta, Eric Holden from Vancouver, BC, Fiona Garforth-Bles from Bragg Creek, Alberta and James Dick, a Heavy Duty Mechanic from Victoria BC.

Paying tribute to his entire crew team at the Clipper Race Finish in London, Eric said: “The whole team had a hand on the wheels as we drove across the line, as we all put in a huge effort in getting us here.

“Whenever I thought the team couldn’t be pushed any harder, they dug deeper through some of the worst sailing conditions I have ever seen on the planet.”

The July award is in addition to Eric’s November 2013, April 2014 and May 2014 Sailor of the Month Awards. He was also awarded Sail Canada's Gerry Roufs offshore sailing trophy in March 2013, for the second consecutive year.

Last week Eric Holden took the Clipper Race trophy to Cowes Week on the UK's Isle of Wight to celebrate his achievements with his Henri Lloyd sponsors and the sailing community.
