Clipper Race fleet lights up the Foyle Maritime Festival

On Friday evening as the sun went down, the Foyle Maritime Festival ‘What Lies Beneath’ showcase got underway, providing a spectacle of light.

After a busy day on the quay with the festival activities in full swing, crowds of thousands lined the banks of the River Foyle as the sun set ready for the evening ahead. The Clipper Race fleet was the centrepiece of the event, with twinkling lights, flares and glowsticks illuminating each yacht.

The fleet, with crew, friends and family on board, performed a ‘Parade of Light’ whilst lighting flares alongside the ‘Phoenix’ tall ship, followed by an epic firework display as the night drew in.
